Young set for Villa move

Watford's England Under-21 forward Ashley Young is poised to join Aston Villa, with a weekend medical likely to seal his £9million move to Villa Park.

The 21-year-old Hornets ace sat out the meeting of the two sides involved in the deal on Saturday, before Villa boss Martin O'Neill confirmed that Young's arrival is close at hand.

He commented after a 2-0 victory for his team: "Ashley is a very talented and exciting player who controls the ball well and can score goals.

"He has agreed verbally to sign for us and I hope that the deal will be completed very shortly."

Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd added: "Ashley is an ultimate professional, very disciplined and if he stays clear of injuries he is going to have a very fine career.

"He might even be a bargain and he is going to be a real asset to his new club."
