West Ham and Everton lead chase to sign Manchester City winger Martin Petrov

Martin Petrov is heading out of Manchester City, with at least four clubs chasing his signature on a Bosman free transfer. Avram Grant wants to make the City winger his first signing as West Ham manager, as he awaits confirmation of his appointment at Upton Park, while Everton and Celtic are also keen and Aston Villa see him as a possible replacement for Ashley Young. First in: Avram Grant wants Martin Petrov as his first signing at Upton Park when he is confirmed as West Ham's new boss City manager Roberto Mancini made a recent inquiry for ex-Watford flyer Young, who is believed to favour a return to the London area. Wages in excess of £50,000 a week may well put Petrov beyond Celtic's means and would place him among the top earners at Everton. Goodison manager David Moyes has already noted his imminent availability, as helooks for ways of finding a left-sided specialist with a minimum of funds. Moyes' interest would intensify, should he lose Steven Pienaar, a target for Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.  West Ham close in on Grant... but delay naming new boss until next weekBordeaux line up ex-West Ham boss Zola for speedy return to managementSpurs plan Modric talks but Man City target Cavani is too costlyWEST HAM UNITED FC
