Villans play down Bramble talk

Reports on Thursday morning claimed Villa were prepared to offer £3.5million plus promising midfielder Barry Bannan to land Bramble, but sources close to the club insist the former Newcastle player is not on Martin O'Neill's radar. O'Neill is desperate to bring in a new central defender following the retirement of skipper Martin Laursen but it is understood there are no imminent signings about to happen at Villa.
