Villa up bid to 4m as Charlie Adam hints he wants to leave Blackpool

On way out? Charlie Adam has said that he wants 'to play at the highest level' and a raft of clubs are after him Aston Villa will return today with a third offer of £4m for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam. Gerard Houllier has not been put off by Ian Holloway's rebuttal that Villa is 'a half-a***d club whose manager is on a sticky wicket,' and has tried once more after seeing his second bid of £3.5m rejected. Adam has already told Blackpool privately that he wants to leave Bloomfield Road, and he raised the stakes yesterday by making his feelings public. 'The bottom line is that everybody knows I want to play at the highest level,' said the 25-year-old Scot. 'This has been a fantastic part of my life coming to Blackpool, being part of this club and working with this manager.' Villa are prepared to haggle for Adam but there is a limit to which they will go with Blackpool said to want as much as £8m for a player who cost them £500,000 18 months ago. Tottenham, Sunderland, Blackburn, Birmingham, Liverpool and Everton are also interested. Meanwhile, Southampton have told Blackpool they will have to more than double their £200,000 bid to land Jason Puncheon. Southampton want at least £500,000 and hope to spark a bidding war for his signature. Adam hints at Blackpool exit as ace admits he wants to play 'at top of tree' Hammill travels to Wolves for medical fuelling speculation of Jarvis moveMartin Samuel: Ollie deserves credit at Blackpool, not the bean-countersVilla want to lure Birmingham's Larsson and Adam from Blackpool  Explore more:People: Ian Holloway, Gerard Houllier, Charlie Adam Places: Birmingham, Liverpool
