Villa tempted by Owen

Aston Villa are the latest club to be linked with a summer move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen. Martin O'Neill is reported to be keen to sign the former England striker, despite his poor form for the Magpies last season. However, Villa's finances mean that he would need to take a pay-cut of around £70,000 a week from what he earns currently at St James' Park. Italian giants AS Roma are also believed to be interested in signing Owen and, while they would be able to afford more wages than Villa, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid star would still have to take a cut in pay.
