Aston Villa have tabled a £7million bid for unsettled West Ham United captain Nigel Reo-Coker.
Reo-Coker handed in a transfer request last month after becoming disillusioned with life at Upton Park following a difficult season which saw the Hammers narrowly avoid relegation.
The England Under-21 captain claimed he had been let down by the West Ham board when he was singled out by fans and the media for below-par performances.
Earlier in the month he revealed: "I don't think I have been supported at the club.
"There has been a lot of negative press which was very hurtful - I was proud to be at West Ham regardless of what was in the press.
"I thought I should be with the club and I enjoyed my time there, so it's very disappointing and heartbreaking to see I'm not wanted.
Referring to any impending move, he added: "There's no progress. I don't know where my future lies.
"I don't pay attention to the clubs I am being linked with."
West Ham have already reportedly lined up Newcastle United captain Scott Parker as an £8milion replacement should Reo-Coker be sold in the summer.
