Villa sweating over Heskey injury

The England striker suffered a groin injury during the 1-0 home win over Stoke yesterday and had to be substituted midway through the first half. Heskey has started to show his best form in recent weeks and had scored three goals in the previous six games prior to the meeting with Tony Pulis's side. He will have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the problem. Villa boss Martin O'Neill confirmed: "It is Emile's groin that is the problem although he was feeling a bit better after the game compared to when he came off. "The doctor has had a look at it and he will have a scan tomorrow to see what has happened. We are hoping for the best but I won't really know until then." Heskey has made a slow start to his Villa career after a series of niggling injuries following his £3.5million switch from Wigan during the January transfer window. But he has shown his quality in recent games and O'Neill will hope he is fit for the two games in 48 hours that will have a big impact on whether Villa can sustain their push for a Champions League spot. They will take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on December 27 before playing host to Liverpool two days later.
