Villa show impresses O'Neill
22 Sep 2008 - 09:11:15
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill was full of praise for his side after they earned a 2-1 local derby victory at West Bromwich Albion.
Villa have come through a hectic week unscathed, having won 2-1 at Spurs on Monday evening, before securing a 3-1 victory away to Litex Lovech in the UEFA Cup on Thursday.
O'Neill's side then completed a fine run of results by taking all three points at The Hawthorns thanks to goals from John Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
The Irishman commented: "The momentum is terrific.
"We played Monday night at Tottenham, the following day flew out to Bulgaria to play in the UEFA Cup on Thursday afternoon and we've come here and won as well.
"Three wins in five and a half days is just terrific.
"Going forward we are a definite threat and we play some lovely attractive football. Monday night was magnificent, but we were a bit stodgy in the first half in Bulgaria.
"Today, it took us a bit of time to get into the game, but when we came into it, it was with a vengeance and I thought we were brilliant."
