Villa set for Davies talks

Aston Villa have been given permission to speak with Curtis Davies, according to West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray.
The Baggies defender has been linked with an £8million move to Villa Park all summer, but the deal appeared to have fallen through after the Premier League club opted to sign Zat Knight from Fulham on Wednesday.
However, Villa boss Martin O'Neill appears to have retuned to the Championship club to resurrect his interest as he looks to bolster his squad before Friday's transfer deadline.
"We've given Curtis permission to speak to Aston Villa, but the deal is not concluded and is ongoing," Mowbray told the club's official website.
"We'll wait and see if anything gets concluded.
"The bottom line is Curtis hasn't contributed at all for us this season and, if he goes we'll just get on with what we've been doing."
Davies joined the Baggies two years ago in a £3million transfer from Luton Town.
The Albion skipper has made 71 appearances for the club but sat out their ill-fated play-off campaign last season after breaking a metatarsal in March.
The tall central defender has not featured at all this season.
