    Villa facing Agbonlahor blow

    13 Apr 2009 - 10:44:19

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor could be facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during the 3-3 draw with Everton.

The 22-year-old England international was replaced during the second half of the Villa Park thriller and faces a scan to determine the seriousness of the problem.

He said after the game: "There is something wrong with my hamstring. I don't know what it is, we'll have to wait and see the results of a scan.

"I got the ball and pulled up and came off as a precaution. I don't know how long I'll be out for.

"It felt pretty sore during the game, but I came off when I did because I didn't want to make it worse."

Villa boss Martin O'Neill added: "Gabby played against Everton after not training for the two days before the game. He had not been feeling great.

"But we always knew he wanted to come out and play and this is one of the big things about him and Ashley Young and a number of the other lads - they want to play.

"When Gabby came off, his hamstring was sore. Everything was wrong with him in terms of not being physically fit for the game but he still did great.

"That is the kind of character he is."
