Villa confident over O'Neill

Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner doesn't believe in-demand manager Martin O'Neill will be lured away from his club this summer.

O'Neill is continually linked with top jobs when they become available, but Lerner is confident of retaining the Northern Irishman due to the potential of the Midlands club.

Villa were on course for a top-four finish this season before ultimately settling for sixth a spot and a place in next season's Europa League.

"He is in demand, but I expect Martin to be with Villa and I don't see beyond that expectation," Lerner told The People.

"I don't think about speculation with other clubs, I think about him with Villa.

"He is an ambitious man, but that's what you want."

O'Neill joined Villa in summer 2006 following a hugely successful five-year stint at Celtic.
