Aston Villa's veteran midfielder Ian Taylor has said that he is determined to earn a new deal with the club when his current contract runs out in the summer.
The 34-year-old former Port Vale and Sheffield Wednesday player was restored to the Villa line-up for Saturday's draw at Liverpool and produced an impressive display.
"Nothing's been said, and to be honest, there's part of me that is concerned about that at the moment," he told the club's official website.
"But the best way for me to get a new deal is to be playing first-team football week in, week out again.
"I'm not the sort of person to keep asking about a contract, but if I'm a Villa regular and playing well, then I could probably feel it's OK to go and knock on the door and find out.
"I want to let the manager know that I'm there or thereabouts for next season. It's up to him really.
"I'm ready to stay as long as my legs will carry me. I've been here such a long time, so I wouldn't want to uproot."
