    Sorensen's shoulder woe

    08 Oct 2006 - 10:04:37

Aston Villa goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen could miss next weekend's Premiership clash against Tottenham after picking up a shoulder injury while on international duty.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury in Saturday's goalless draw against Northern Ireland and had to be substituted in the 69th minute of the match.

Olof Mellberg is also a doubt for the Spurs game after picking up a knee injury in training for Sweden.

Meanwhile, teenage star Gabby Agbonlahor hopes to earn a senior international call-up in the future after winning his first England Under-21 cap in Friday's 1-0 victory against Germany.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a magnificent start to the season under new Villa boss Martin O'Neill's guidance and is already looking forward to a long and glittering career.

"I want to get as many Under-21 games under my belt as I can," he said. "But my main ambition would be to get into the full England team eventually. I have to push on in the Under-21s if I get the chance.

"It was exciting for me to come on and play in the second half. It was the biggest international game I've ever been involved in and it doesn't get much better than beating Germany.

"I had my family in the crowd, along with my mum and dad, so I was proud. They want me to play for England, as it was the country I was born in."
