Reo-Coker pledges Villa stay

Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from the Midlands club and back to his London roots.

The 24-year-old joined Villa in the summer of 2007 from West Ham United and helped Martin O'Neill's side secure a UEFA Cup spot last season.

However, press reports had suggested that Reo-Coker was unhappy with life away from the capital and could opt to move on as early as the end of the current campaign.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "I'm happy. I'm enjoying myself and I'm playing football week in, week out.

"I'm hitting form and that's all there is to say. If I wasn't happy I wouldn't be playing the way I have been.

"London is an hour-and-a-half from the Midlands. From a young age, I knew what it took to become a professional footballer.

"You have to live with it, going up and down the country. It is something you have to be open to do. If I didn't want to leave I wouldn't have left West Ham.

"Something's been made out of nothing. I'm not playing in my central midfield position, but I'm still working hard and putting in a shift."
