Real Madrid 'to sign' 35m Manchester City target Angel di Maria

Manchester City could suffer disappointment in their bid to land Argentine attacker Angel di Maria after reports in Portugal suggest the Benfica star will join Real Madrid. Real deal: £35m Di Maria is 'on his way' to Madrid According to Portuguese daily Abola, the Benfica winger will spurn the advances of the mega rich Eastlands club and sign for the Spanish giants instead, despite strong interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. Big-spenders Real would have no problem meeting the Di Maria's buy-out clause, believed to be £35million. Manchester City may now be forced to divert their attention to other targets this summer such as Aston Villa pair Ashley Young and James Milner. The Argentine, who has scored eight goals this season, has impressed in the Europa League this term before his side's quarter-final exit to Liverpool. Di Maria recently signed a new five-year deal to extend his stay at Benfica until 2015. Alternative target: Man City may now switch their attention to Ashley Young But his agent Jorge Mendes is said to share extremely good relations with Madrid officials, having helped broker Cristiano Ronaldo's world record £80m move from Old Trafford to the Bernabeu last year.  Bellamy out, Di Maria and Young in: Manchester City plan summer spreeBoateng bound for Manchester City... despite brother's nightmare at SpursToure urges City team-mate Adebayor to show 'more 'intelligence' at ArsenalMANCHESTER CIRTY FC
