Petrov makes training return

Aston Villa's Bulgaria international Stiliyan Petrov has returned to training and could feature in this weekend's Premier League clash against Manchester City.

The former Celtic star has missed Villa's last two matches after pulling a hamstring against Arsenal earlier this month.

"I did my first session on Monday and it felt alright, there was no reaction," said the 28-year-old.

"I've been working with the physios for the last week, so this was the first chance I've had to test it out.

"But it felt okay and we will see where we are at the end of the week when I've had a full week's training.

"It was only a strain and, after the scan, the Manchester City game was always my target and that hasn't changed.

"I think, if I can get a full week's training, I will be fit and then we will see what the manager wants to do."

Meanwhile, Villa have distanced themselves from reports linking them with a £7million move for FC Porto right-back Jose Boswinga.
