Gabriel Agbonlahor and Theo Walcott plus several other members of the last full England squad have been named in the under-21 side for next Tuesday's friendly against Slovenia.
Both Agbonlahor and Walcott travelled with Fabio Capello's squad for June's 3-0 friendly victory over Trinidad & Tobago, but have been recalled to the under-21 ranks by coach Stuart Pearce.
Fellow recent senior internationals David Wheater, Tom Huddlestone and Joe Lewis have all also been recalled by Pearce.
There is also a place in the under-21 ranks for Manchester City defender Micah Richards, who has won 11 full caps but missed the closing two months of the last season following knee surgery.
"It is a very strong squad and it's a sign of our intent for the season coming up not just for the under-21s but the seniors as well," said Pearce.
Meanwhile, Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell will return to the KC Stadium after being named in the squad.
The highly-rated striker spent last season on loan with Hull in the Championship.
"Fraizer is a player that the Hull fans will know well and he was a massive part of Hull getting into the Premier League," added Pearce.
"The fact he has been around the Manchester United squad in pre-season shows he is progressing and he showed an excellent attitude when he was involved in the under-21s at the end of last season."
