Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill praised the resilience of his side after they bounced back from a recent poor run to defeat Blackburn Rovers.
Gareth Barry scored a controversial penalty and Juan Pablo Angel scored for the first time in the Premiership since August as Villa moved up to sixth in the table on the back of their first victory in four league games.
"It was very, very important for us to win after last week (when Villa lost 3-1 at Liverpool)," admitted O'Neill.
"It was important to bounce back and that we did. We won the game and moved the scoreboard along if you like and that is good news for us as we have not won for a couple of games and they were difficult games for us.
"It is nice to go and win a game."
