Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has hinted that he could recall Lee Hendrie from his loan spell at Stoke City as the Villa Park injury list lengthens.
Martin Laursen has joined Luke Moore on the long-term injured list, while Gareth Barry and Mark Delaney are also currently on the sidelines.
Hendrie has impressed during his six weeks with the Potters, scoring three goals in eight Championship appearances for Tony Pulis' side.
O'Neill said: "Recalling Lee is a distinct possibility. He's at Stoke for two months, but we can recall him at any time if we want him.
"As he gets fitter with every game, it can only be better news for us."
Villa are fourth in the Premiership table despite having a wafer-thin squad and O'Neill is keen to increase his options by bringing in several players when the transfer window reopens in January.
The Villa boss added: "Myself and (owner) Mr (Randy) Lerner have talked about trying to strengthen the squad.
"I had to try and get some idea of the quality of our squad before I started delving into the market.
"Obviously, I signed Stilian Petrov and there was the possibility of getting James Milner from Newcastle which fell through, but that's the way it goes."
