Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has confirmed that a number of clubs are interested in signing centre-half Gary Cahill.
The 22-year-old former England Under-21 international recently spent three months on loan at Sheffield United, but the Blades now face stiff competition to complete a permanent deal.
O'Neill told the Birmingham Mail: "There is a lot of interest, more than a lot of interest, in Gary at this minute.
"I have spoken to him a couple of times and I have spoken to his agent. I'll monitor it as we go along.
"I couldn't possibly comment on individual clubs, but I will say that there have been bids for Gary, but I am not confirming anything about the clubs.
"So there are lots of things, lots of speculation and I will be in a better position to know what is what towards the end of the week."
Cahill, who has also spent time on loan at Burnley, has scored once in 31 appearances for Villa to date.
