O'Neill: League still the focus
05 Feb 2009 - 07:44:45
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has admitted the Premier League remains his priority despite progressing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Villa were 3-1 winners over Championship side Doncaster Rovers in Wednesday's fourth round replay at Villa Park following goals by Steve Sidwell, John Carew and Nathan Delfouneso.
"We are going to need everyone and we've got to try to keep things going on all fronts - and we are delighted to be in the fifth round of the FA Cup," said O'Neill.
"But the Premier League is the Holy Grail at the moment, so we have got to be chasing that. That is where we are looking."
Meanwhile, O'Neill was delighted with the performance of teenager Delfouneso.
"I was delighted with Nathan's performance. He gave the ball away for their goal but outside of that he was exceptional class," he continued.
"For one so young, he is a really good player in the making and I have a lot of faith in his ability for the future.
"He is not someone you would want to rely on at this stage to get us out of the quagmire in a Premier League match, but he is a very capable player."
