Aston Villa are poised to reward teenage midfielder Isaiah Osbourne after his step up to the first team with a new contract.
The 19-year-old made his debut in the Carling Cup earlier in the season and has gone on to make five Premiership appearances after impressing Villa boss Martin O'Neill.
Osbourne, who came through the ranks at Villa Park, is set to put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Midlands club until the summer of 2010.
"We are hoping to agree the contract within the week - a three-and-a-half-year contract," revealed O'Neill.
"Isaiah has got potential and I am very pleased with the way he has played.
"He played better at Everton than on Saturday against Middlesbrough, but that is only to be expected of a young player.
"He has played four or five first-team games now and I am very pleased with him."
