Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed that defender Stephen Warnock faces several more weeks out of action due to a shin problem.
The 28-year-old England international sustained the injury in the 3-2 FA Cup fourth round win over Brighton & Hove Albion just under a fortnight ago and is still some way away from a return to action.
O'Neill told the club's official website: "Stephen will have to rest for a while. We will have a look and see how he is in a couple of weeks. That is what the specialist has said.
"We will have to see if it settles down. Obviously, he's desperate to be playing and it's disappointing because he's been brilliant for us.
"Stephen, James (Collins) and Richard (Dunne) coming in the last week of August gave us an enormous boost.
"Their ability, their character - everything about them - has been excellent. It would be hard to imagine where we would be without them.
"They love to play and they've also built up a really decent understanding. Taking all that into consideration, the injury was a blow."
