Mixed feelings for Agbonlahor

Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has admitted to mixed feelings that his side have qualified for the Europa League next season.

Agbonlahor is excited about the prospect of European football, but disappointed that Villa were unable to sustain their challenge for a top-four finish and a Champions League spot.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "We are disappointed we have missed out on fourth, but if we finish fifth it will still be an improvement on last season.

"I think the gaffer will strengthen the squad in the summer so we will have more faces.

"The gaffer will be able to rest certain players in games if he wants and if we can do that, we will have a better chance of keeping things going."

"Achieving a European spot was the least we wanted. Now we want to go on and win every remaining game.

"The feelings (of missing out on the top four) are mixed, a bit of both. We have high standards.

"We are disappointed at not reaching what we wanted to reach, but in another way it is a good thing to be in Europe."
