Milner unhappy at Villa form

Midfielder James Milner claims the Aston Villa players let the club down during Sunday's 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool.

Stuttering Villa lost further ground in the race for fourth place and the final Champions League qualifying spot after being put to the sword at Anfield.

Martin O'Neill's side have won just one of their last seven Premier League games and Milner has admitted their recent form has not been good enough.

"We must turn it around. It's a tough game coming up (against Manchester United) but it's down to us to turn it around and put things right," he told the Daily Star.

"Due to the international break, it means we have a long time with that result on our minds, we can't put it right for two weeks.

"Have we let the club down? Of course. Losing any game is disappointing but to lose 5-0 is just not good enough, especially considering how well we have done this season.

"We should not be losing by that scoreline. It should never be difficult to show your character.

"The least anyone can expect is 100 per cent and that just wasn't good enough."
