Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has revealed that new contract talks aimed at tying James Milner to the club for a lengthy period at to be held at the end of the season.
Milner, 24, still has 18 months remaining on his existing deal but O'Neill has admitted the midfielder's form this season has led to talks over a new deal being made a priority.
The former Leeds United and Newcastle midfielder appears to have played his way into Fabio Capello's England squad ahead of the World Cup after an impressive season.
Milner has scored eight goals in 30 appearances for the Midlands club so far this term.
"I would say we wouldn't be looking at people until the summer, but that doesn't mean that James Milner hasn't been fantastic for this football club," O'Neill told the Express & Star.
"I've already spoken to him and we are leaving everything. We're not going to sit down now.
"The season is far too busy and the summer is the perfect time to talk and I think all parties agree on that too."
