Summer signing James Milner insists he is happy to wait for his chance in the Aston Villa first team.
Milner, 22, has yet to make his first Premier League start since joining the Midlands club for £12million from Newcastle United in August.
The England Under-21 international started both of Villa's UEFA Cup clashes with Litex Lovech in recent weeks, but accepts the competition for places in Martin O'Neill's side means he will have to be patient.
"Don't get me wrong, every footballer wants to play but the lads have been brilliant all season," he said.
"There's competition for places and you have to play well to stay in the side.
"That's the way it should be, it's healthy. I haven't been frustrated at not getting games. I'd be delighted if we won every game with me sat on the bench.
"What's important to me is being part of a massive club doing well on a number of fronts."
