Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood insists Saturday's meeting with former club
West ham United will not be a personal revenge mission.
Harewood left the Hammers during the summer after being told he was surplus to requirements.
The 29-year-old netted just three times during a frustrating last campaign but insists he has nothing to prove against his former employers should he get the nod for the meeting at Villa Park.
Harewood found the back of the 14 times during the previous campaign in which the Hammers reached the FA Cup final and qualified for the UEFA Cup.
"I'm not trying to prove anyone right or wrong, apart from myself. I had a great season a couple of years ago and I want to carry on from there," he told the club's official website.
"Last year was a hard year for me personally and for West ham, but now I have got a big task ahead of me and new people around me and I just have to make sure that I get back what I had before.
"It's about confidence and everything really. It's about the team and not really the individual.
"West ham were fantastic that year- that's why I got my goals because everyone was pulling their weight and doing what they had to do.
"I think the players here have got ability and that's why I decided to move to Villa. Just from the atmosphere around here, I know I can get my goals."
