Aston Villa owner randy Lerner has warned Liverpool that they will not be able to tempt manager Martin O'Neill away from Villa Park this summer.
O'Neill's future with the Midlanders continues to be called into question despite both the Irishman and Lerner insisting that there is no exit on the cards.
Lerner told the Daily Star Sunday: "I don't want a manager who nobody else wants, but, as far as I'm concerned, Liverpool are not taking Martin O'Neill away from Aston Villa.
"If you look at the top managers, you realise you're dealing with animated, complicated people.
"You've got a lot of personality, a lot of points of view, a lot of history and a lot of stuff going on and I realise that's who my manager is.
"He's a complicated guy. He's led a long life, played for Brian Clough, was in Northern Ireland during a tumultuous period and it has influenced his personality.
"It's also why his tenacity and taste in how to get something done is what it is. When you're with him it's an education.
"Animated, that's Martin O'Neill all the time and it's pretty inspiring."
