Aston Villa central defender Martin Laursen is content to wait for talks over a new contract, having made a solid start to the new season at Villa Park.
The 30-year-old Denmark international has endured an injury-ravaged three years with Villa, but is finally starting to show his true class for Martin O'Neill's side.
Laursen said: "I feel this is the best spell of my Villa career and possibly the best I've been playing since I was at AC Milan.
"Although there have been games before where I feel I have played well for Villa, I have never stayed fit long enough to put a decent run of games together.
"Everyone knows there were times when I felt I might never play again. But I have kept my place under this manager and I've a lot to thank him for.
"As yet there have not been any talks over a new contract. The club want to make sure I can be fit for most of the season."
