Hodgson gets his hands on Shorey
Fulham have completed the signing of Nicky Shorey on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season. Villa boss Martin O'Neill recalled the England international from his loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest last week, but he has now allowed the 28-year-old to join Fulham, who are struggling at left-back because of an injury to Paul Konchesky. The Cottagers have the option to make the transfer permanent should Shorey impress boss Roy Hodgson. Shorey made his name at Reading, where he spent seven successful years before moving to Villa in 2008. He was a regular in his first season at Villa Park but slipped behind Stephen Warnock in the pecking order following the arrival of the former Liverpool man last summer. Shorey will be hoping his move to Craven Cottage will boost his chances of making England's World Cup squad, with Fabio Capello's options being limited in his position. Europa League Specials.
