Aston Villa have sealed the signing of striker Emile Heskey for £3.5million from Wigan Athletic, with the England international signing a three-and-a-half-year deal at Villa Park.
The 31-year-old has successfully passed medical with the Midlands club, with his transfer being completed in quickfire fashion.
Boss Martin O'Neill told the club's official website: "I am absolutely delighted. He has been a brilliant player for a number of years and this is great news.
"It gives us all a big boost - the football club, myself and the players."
O'Neill, who previously worked with Heskey at Leicester City, earlier stated: "Of course I've kept an eye on Emile's career.
"Something levelled at Emile is that he doesn't score enough goals and I'm sure he probably thinks exactly the same.
"But it doesn't mean he hasn't made a massive difference in other areas.
"Confidence is always a big thing with Emile. When his confidence is high, he is always a player."
