Harewood misses out on Hull deal

Marlon Harewood's agent has claimed Hull City had agreed a deal to sign the Aston Villa striker only for the move to fall through. Skysports.com revealed that the Tigers were battling it out with Championship side Newcastle United to sign Harewood on loan before the close of the transfer window. Reports suggest the 30-year-old, who has not featured for Villa this season, was ready to move to the KC Stadium on loan until January with a view to a £2million permanent switch. However, Harewood's agent Phil Sproson has confirmed that, despite settling on terms with Hull boss Phil Brown, the transfer was never completed. "Having taken the call from Phil I really thought the deal was going to happen, but that's football and this is what can happen on deadline day," Sproson told the Hull Daily Mail. "I travelled to Villa having spoken to Phil and they were happy for the deal to go ahead and it was all sorted at their end. "I tried calling Phil back during the afternoon several times, but we heard nothing more. "It is strange as Hull seemed interested when we spoke early in the afternoon, but Marlon will move on from this and will bounce back. "If Hull had wanted this deal Marlon would be there now, that's 100 per cent." The failure of Tigers striker Daniel Cousin to secure a move to Premier League rivals Burnley has been mooted as a reason for the collapse of Harewood's switch.
