Gerard Houllier admits interest in Wayne Bridge

Out of favour: Bridge could join Villa on loan Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has confirmed his interest in signing Manchester City full-back Wayne Bridge on loan. Any move could happen sooner rather than later now Pablo Zabaleta has won his appeal for his sending-off against Arsenal in City's 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium in mid-week. Houllier has already signed a new right-back in on-loan Tottenham defender Kyle Walker. Now the axing of Stephen Warnock after a poor run of form has left him needing an experienced left-back - and Bridge would fit the bill. Houllier confirmed: 'There has been dialogue (regarding Bridge). 'But it is true we have been talking to them.' Houllier is also being linked with a move for Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun. He also confirmed West Brom's interest in signing John Carew who is still battling to gain full fitness. But the three-game ban facing Emile Heskey for his red card against Sunderland means any moves in that direction would also have to be put on hold. Seeing red: Heskey is serving a three-match ban after he was sent off against Sunderland Houllier said: 'I know at some stage there were talks with West Brom. I don't know where it will lead to. 'But to me Carew is an Aston Villa player and, as soon as he is available and fit, I will be delighted to have him in the squad and to play.'  Man City turn down £95k-a-week West Ham loan deal for Wayne BridgeHughes to offer out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Carew a Fulham lifeline ASTON VILLA FC
