Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor looks set for a spell on the sidelines after scans confirmed he suffered a hamstring injury last weekend.
The speedy forward was forced to withdraw from Fabio Capello's first England squad after picking up the problem in Sunday's defeat at Fulham.
Agbonlahor is now likely to miss Saturday's visit of Newcastle United to Villa Park, according to manager Martin O'Neill.
The 21-year-old has been an ever-present for the Midlands club this season and has found the back of the net on seven occasions.
"We've done a scan and it shows something, which is disappointing," revealed O'Neill.
"Gabby has missed out with England and he's a doubt for Saturday.
"It's a setback that he might miss a game for us because he has been absolutely fantastic this season and showed no sign of what people call the 'second season syndrome'.
"His form meant was on the threshold of things with his country.
"That time will return for him, I'm sure. It's just a setback for him for now."
