Eidur Gudjohnsen on Aston Villa's radar as Martin O'Neill eyes season-long loan for Monaco striker

Aston Villa are considering a move for ex-Chelsea and Tottenham striker Eidur Gudjohnsen on a season-long loan deal. The Monaco striker spent the last four months of the season on loan at White Hart Lane and helped Spurs clinch a Champions League spot. And despite only scoring twice for Harry Redknapp's side he impressed enough to arouse Villa boss Martin O'Neill's interest, according to The Sun. O'Neill is seeking reinforcements up front after a disappointing season for Emile Heskey, who faces an uncertain future at Villa after netting just five times last term and finding himself benched for much of the campaign. Stoke are weighing up whether to offer Heskey an escape route out of Villa Park. He netted 78 times in 177 games at Stamford Bridge. A three-year spell at Barcelona yielded just 10 goals in 72 appearances, and saw the striker shipped out to the south of France last summer.  Stoke ready to offer an escape route to Heskey as Sunderland line up TuncayMilner hints at Man City move: 'I don't know if I'll be at Aston Villa next year'THE MIDLANDER: Milner deserves the chance to double his moneyASTON VILLA FC
