Charlie Adam unfazed by transfer talk as Liverpool and Aston Villa track Blackpool captain

Playing it cool: Blackpool skipper Adam Charlie Adam has played down interest from Liverpool and Aston Villa, insisting he is not distracted by speculation linking him with a move away from Blackpool. The Scotland midfielder has been coveted by a host of Barclays Premier League suitors after an impressive start to the season. But the 25-year-old has been the subject of failed bids from Aston Villa and Birmingham with manager Ian Holloway saying the player, whose contract expires at the end of next season, will only be allowed to leave for the right price to an elite club. The Blackpool skipper stressed he is focused on life at Bloomfield Road, admitting it is easy to ignore any reports over his uncertain future. 'I am not here to speak about speculation,' he said. 'There is nothing I can say on it. 'Is it hard to concentrate on my game when clubs are putting bids in? No, it is easy. 'At the end of the day I am a footballer and I want to keep playing. If anyone has seen the performances I have had over the last month or so, then they will know the speculation has not derailed me.' Last week Villa tabled a £3.5million offer for Adam that was rebuffed by Blackpool but it is understood they will return with an improved offer as Liverpool also weigh up an approach.  West Bromwich 3 Blackpool 2: Odemwingie's late volley clinches winMARTIN SAMUEL: Ian Holloway deserves the credit at Blackpool, not the bean-countersVilla want to lure Birmingham's Larsson and Adam from BlackpoolWatch all the Premier League goals every week on our brilliant video playerClub-by-club guide to every Premier League transfer deal during JanuaryAll the latest Blackpool news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Ian Holloway, Charlie Adam Places: Birmingham, Liverpool, Scotland
