Aston Villa's Norwegian striker John Carew has signed a new one-year contract extension to keep him at Villa Park until the summer of 2011.
The 28-year-old moved to Villa Park in January 2007 from French champions Lyon and has gone on to score 17 goals in 46 appearances for the Midlands club.
Carew had previously played for Besiktas, Roma, Valencia, Rosenborg and Valerenga.
Meanwhile, Villa new boy Carlos Cuellar is hoping that his move to England from Rangers will help him break into the Spanish national team set-up.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "My ambition is to play for my country and I think with Aston Villa I will have that possibility.
"Every player wants to play international football and that is my aim. I'm joining a big club in the Premier League. This is the best league in the world and last year Villa did very well.
"So I am very happy to come here with the opportunity to play in the Premier League. We are also playing in Europe this season, so that will be good."
