Aston Villa have handed a new two-year contract to Netherlands defender Wilfred Bouma.
Bouma, 30, is currently sidelined with a dislocated ankle picked up during an Intertoto Cup clash Odense against last month, but has penned a deal until 2010 with the option for a further year.
The left-back has made almost 90 appearances for the Midlands club after overcoming an injury-plagued start to life in the Premier League.
Bouma joined Villa from PSV Eindhoven in August 2005 and manager Martin O'Neill revealed he was next in line for a new contract when speaking last month.
"We've signed Gabriel Agbonlahor and John Carew on new contracts and I also would like to get Wilfred Bouma sorted out," he previously admitted.
"That is something we would look to do."
