Better news for Moore

Aston Villa striker Luke Moore could return to action as early as January after it was initially thought that he would be out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.

The 20-year-old suffered the problem in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea and boss Martin O'Neill had feared the worst.

However, the Villa manager told the club's official website: "The good news is that Luke could be back in as little as three months.

"I was worried it might be a season finishing injury, but physio Alan Smith assured me that will not be the case.

"He does need surgery. I think that the doctor feels he must get it sorted out soon, because it's not helping him long term to struggle on with this injury and it must affect him psychologically if he's thinking about it in matches."

O'Neill added veteran striker Chris Sutton to his squad on Tuesday evening to cover for Moore's absence.
