Barry earns O'Neill praise

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is confident that Gareth Barry will be back in the England fold sooner rather than later. Barry has been one of the stand-out performers in Villa's strong start to the campaign and O'Neill is sure that his player has the quality needed for international football. He commented: "Barry has played at left-back as if he has played there all his life and he has been brilliant there and before that on the left side of midfield. "Will being versatile help him with England? I often thought to myself that it might be a hindrance to begin with, but I think now it can only be a help. "Somewhere along the way, if you are going to build you squad, you are going to need a bit of versatility in it. You've seen that with people like Owen Hargreaves and Phil Neville. "I don't think I would have any real doubts in the shorter or longer term that Barry could go and play in the England squad. "He is doing exceptionally well for us and consistently very well."
