Aston Villa striker Carew takes talk of Manchester City move in his stride

Aston Villa striker John Carew admitted he is flattered by reports linking him with a move to moneybags Manchester City. The Norway international, 29, has scored 31 goals for Villa since arriving in January 2007 and has been a key figure in the club's revival under manager Martin O'Neill. But Carew insisted he will not let the speculation distract him as he prepares for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Holland. Focused: Carew is on international duty with the Norway squad 'I am not thinking too much about this,' Carew told Nettavisen. 'There is always speculation. 'I would take it as a compliment if they (City) are interested, but I am not spending much time thinking about it. 'For me, it is just speculation and I never respond to speculation.' If a move did materialise, Carew would be reunited with Gareth Barry who left Villa Park in a £12million deal on Tuesday and will be difficult to replace according to the big Norwegian. 'We knew he was going to go,' he said. 'It wasn't like it was a bombshell - it was always on the cards. But, still, he is a difficult player to replace.'
