Angel still has a role - Taylor

Thursday Sep 29 2005 13:46

Aston Villa boss Graham Taylor has assured Juan Pablo Angel that he is still part of the first-team plans at the club.

The 27-year-old Colombian striker has just returned to the club after knee surgery back in his homeland and Taylor is eager to get him involved as soon as possible.

He told the club's official website: "We have kept in contact with Juan Pablo while he has been away. He won't be fit for Southampton, but we'll be able to have a good look at his fitness when he returns.

"We want to see what level he is at after his operation."

Angel has scored just three goals this season and has struggled to live up to the £9.5million price-tag that brought him to the Midlands from River Plate in January 2001.
