Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry has reportedly told manager Martin O'Neill that he wants to join Liverpool.
The Reds have already seen a £10million player-plus-cash approach for the England international rejected out of hand by O'Neill following the end of the Premier League season.
But the 27-year-old midfielder's agent claims his client has now held talks with the Villa boss and informed him of his desire to leave the Midlands club for Anfield this summer.
"Gareth has spoken to Martin since he returned from England's game in Trinidad and told him how he feels," agent Alex Black told The Sun.
"At this stage of his career, Gareth wants to be playing Champions League football and believes this is his chance to do it."
Barry's England team-mate and Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has already urged the versatile midfielder to join the Merseyside club.
He has made over 325 appearances for Villa during a decade on the first-team scene.
