Aston Villa's in-form striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed Curtis Davies to return from injury better than even next season.
Davies, who is on loan at Villa Park from West Brom, is unlikely to play again until October after suffering a serious Achilles injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Arsenal.
Agbonlahor told Villa's official website: "It's a case of getting your head around it, recovering as quickly as you can and I'm sure Curtis will do that.
"I know he'll be devastated as he'd have been hoping for another England call-up next month.
"But he's still very young and I'm sure he'll be back in the team and back for England as soon as he can."
On the draw at the Emirates Stadium, the England Under-21 international added: "I think we deserved to beat Arsenal. Before the game we'd have taken a point, but to lose two with just three seconds to go was really frustrating.
"But it happens in football. I think we had more chances in the game than Arsenal and it's just annoying that we didn't convert them.
"The one good thing is that it's the third time now that we've come to take on one of the big-four teams and taken points off them. The way we've started playing lately I think people are now taking us seriously.
"Hopefully this result will send a message out to all the big guns that we're a force to be reckoned with."
