Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has offered a short-term deal to former Celtic winger Didier Agathe.
The 31-year-old Frenchman was released by the Bhoys last season and has impressed his former boss at Celtic Park in training during the last few weeks.
"I'm hoping Didier will take up a short-term contract offer we've given him," O'Neill told Villa's official website.
"Obviously the Didier Agathe of a couple of seasons ago would be a great addition to the squad.
"He's not had the greatest of times in recent months, but I've seen enough in the short time he's been here with us.
"He played in the reserve game at Reading and, particularly in the second half, he did enough to deserve this offer."
Agathe made 180 appearances for Celtic during a five-year spell with the club following his £50,000 switch from Hibernian in September 2000.
