Young urges Villa focus
Luke Young is confident Aston Villa can finish fourth in the Premier League as they are still in control of their own destiny.
Villa have enjoyed a splendid campaign but they are now just three
points above Arsenal in the race for the final UEFA Champions League berth.
A 1-0 defeat at home to Chelsea last month was followed by a 2-2 draw against Stoke, and Villa dropped more points on Wednesday as they lost 2-0 to Manchester City.
There are ten games remaining but Young feels Villa can see off the challenge of Arsenal if they approach the run-in with the right attitude.
"We just have to keep focused on what we need to do," the defender told the Birmingham Mail.
"There are 10 games to go. It is like a mini-season now.
"We are aware of the situation and the games that are to come. If we don't finish fourth it is down to ourselves. We don't need to worry about
others; it is down to ourselves.
"If anyone would have asked whether we would have taken the amount of points we have at this stage, we would have snapped their hands off.
"That's no consolation from last night and also for throwing away two points at the weekend.
"But we know what we have to do and it is in our hands."
Villa have now failed to win their last six games in all competitions after bowing out of the Uefa Cup at the hands of CSKA Moscow and losing to Everton in the FA Cup.
Martin O'Neill is taking his men to Dubai this week for a mini-break and Young is looking forward to a strong finish to the season.
He said: "On the back of the cup exits at Everton and Moscow we are in a little bit of a rut because we are not winning games.
"We need to put that right as soon as possible and hopefully we can recharge our batteries on this break and come back stronger for the next 10 games."
Young added: "We need everyone fit. We've got a few lads coming back.
"Martin Laursen will soon be coming back into the frame and Freddie (Wilfred) Bouma is close to returning.
"We need as many players fit as possible. We just need to get back to what we were doing at the start of the season - everyone playing for each other and everyone getting forward and attacking teams and playing with freedom."
