Young: O'Neill key to fine form

Young was a highly-rated youngster when he joined Villa from Watford in January 2007 - but he has flourished under O'Neill and is now regarded as one of the finest wingers in the Premier league. The 23-year-old is grateful that he is allowed to play in such a positive manner and believes O'Neill deserves much of the credit for the progress he has made. "My belief has improved under the manager. He installs that confidence in you," Young told the club's official website. "He gives you the desire to go out there and try and do well and impress. As a winger, he gives you freedom to go and attack. That's fantastic. "My self-belief has improved so much under him. Since I have been at Villa I have won Player of the Month a few times and I have gained international recognition. "I was in the team of the season too - that's all down to him. "His man-management skills are spot on. All players are different and he realises that." Villa have slipped behind in-form Arsenal in the race for a top-four finish but Young is staying positive. Only goal difference separates the sides with nine games of the season remaining and Young is convinced Villa will get back on track and secure Champions League football. He said: "Arsenal have had good results of late whereas we have not. But the team spirit and bond is great here. "We know what we need to do. I have every confidence we can do it."
