Weimann on a high after debut

Andreas Weimann believes the confidence boost of making his international debut for Austria will inspire him to greater feats for Aston Villa.

The 21-year-old came on as a substitute against Kazakhstan in Austria's 0-0 World Cup qualifying draw. Although he was on the pitch for just six minutes, Weimann insists it will boost his confidence and therefore his performances in club colours.

"I was so proud to play for the senior Austria side," he told the club's official website.

"I have said for a while that it's the biggest single honour you can have - to play for your country.

"I was really, really happy. I am confident at the moment because I feel good, I feel sharp and I'm playing in the Premier League for Villa.

"But I think that senior game will give me another 10%. It makes me even more confident. I felt ten feet tall.

"I am looking forward to the next chance when I can show the gaffer in the game. I will take the confidence I have into my performances with Villa.

"I know it wasn't long for me out on the pitch. I was only on for about six minutes but those six minutes are invaluable for me.

"I will never forget them. It was brilliant. Hopefully I will get a few more call-ups."
