Warnock wants good reception

Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock is hoping for a good reception when he returns to Ewood Park on Saturday. Villa take on Warnock's former side Blackburn in the Premier League and the full-back is looking forward to returning to the club where he has many happy memories. The Midlands outfit will be trying to secure their seventh straight win in all competitions and Warnock admitted it was the first game he looked for on the fixture list. "The Blackburn game was one of the games I looked for straight away to see when we would be playing against them," he said. "I'm surprised that it's come around so quickly but I'm looking forward to going back there. "I'm not too sure what kind of reception former players normally get there. I think they're usually quite good. "There's no bad feeling. I've spoken to the chairman (John Williams) and the manager (Sam Allardyce) after I signed here and everything was left on good terms. There was a good understanding between us." Villa go into the tie at Ewood Park in excellent form, but Blackburn suffered a 3-0 reverse at the hands of Everton last weekend. Warnock thinks his new team can go from strength to strength this season, but admits it would be foolish to underestimate a dangerous Rovers side. "Villa are such an exciting team and I know we can go to places and get results," he added. "Blackburn have got good quality in the team and signed quite a lot of new players this year. "The way they play is tough to play against. I think they will have a good season."
